Painted sketch Southern Belle by Gloria Poole of Georgia and Missouri; Update

This is the painted sketch I painted with acrylics this morning. It is the same basic sketch I drew in pencil. this time I just painted over my signature, so it fixed it to the page and shows as I wrote it on the pencil drawing below. Scroll to see pencil drawings. I have not painted the guy with visor drawing yet. I was very busy yesterday in several areas including my on-going process of creating an actual book with the story I wrote and illustrated about picnics. I will post the other sketch when I get it painted but not necessarily to this blog. Also, reminder these 2 sketches are of pretend people, not actual people. They were created entirely by me with pencil and then paint.

This is the pencil drawing I drew last night about 10pm while watching TV. It is just the basic drawing and I named it "Southern Belle" because per history the women of the deep South in the time of plantations often wore hats on every occasion. I also wear hats often. I intend to paint this but haven't decided what sort of background I want on it. This is graphite on 11 x 14 bristol board. Scroll down to the next pencil drawing also of a man wearing a visor. I was almost too tired when I started that drawing about 10:30pm and messed up the "lips" on it about FIVE times! I was provoked with myself. I intend to paint it too, and maybe re-do the lips yet again when my mood is better. I have drawn regularly since about 1991 and I get really aggravated with myself when I mess up something. I intend this to be one of the ethnic series sketches for Southern women. Also, this morning it took me 4 tries and a reboot of my computer to login to this account of mine so that did not start my day off on right foot.

This is also graphite on bristol board 11 x 14 inches in size and it is only a preliminary drawing. I will almost certainly re-do some of it before painting it.

This is my signature on one of my oil paintings and it is also on some blogs of mine since about yr 2008.

This is my signature as I painted it on a paper palette to use as a "logo" for this year to define where I live, the year and my first name of course as I sign it on paintings and most sketches. For some reason, when I draw and am distracted like when "watching" TV I tend to sign my full name without thinking, but painting on canvas is much more deliberate a process for me, because they are more expensive and more permanent and then because I am focused on it, I sign my first name only as I always have on paintings.

For the record and to establish provenance of art I have already created also: the art I have created and signed and posted to this blog of mine is part of an on-going series of art I created since year 1991 beginning in Atlanta, GA that "blossomed" in year 2005 in Aurora, Colorado when I lived there for one year [May 2006-May 2007], and art began to really become an integral part of my efforts to save the baby humans from premeditated destruction. In 2005, I began to realize I could use the art to illustrate my talking points in some cases, and to build a secondary "career' for me as artist. In the year 2006 when I had endured and lived to tell about it a violent crash down a flight of stairs and had trauma, fractures, concussion, because my then-husband DBP tried to kill me to 'make it look like an accident" and he tried to twist off my broken leg, I had immobility for months except on crutches and walking boot after surgery to repair fractures and implant metal. As I sat with leg propped up I began to draw daily and paint to occupy the time and my mind. I also began to post art to the web on my blogs and websites, and also photographs I had photographed. I began a series of art then that is named "ethnic series by Gloria" [me] to attempt to draw and paint an art work of every ethnic group tribe, language, culture in the world and I created eight initial oil paintings in the first batch and posted them to the web on domains of mine. I moved from Aurora to zip code 80203 for 2 and 1/2 years and then moved to Missouri on Oct 31, 2009 with the art I had in my possession at that time. I paint some of the sketches I created in do-overs into oils on canvas and those are very visible on the web.
