This is an open letter to the U S federal agencies Federal Communications and Federal Trade. I thought on this for some time before thinking this is the time and day to write this. Somebody has to ask these questions before huge swaths of people in U S are left without phone service after greedy telecoms crank up their pie-in-the-sky-5G-to overcharge consumers-scheme.
Here are my questions :
1) Is the purpose of the 5G scheme to force off of telecom and internet the elderly, the handicapped, the "poor"[always a relative term. Everyone is "poor"compared to citizens such as Elon Musk, Mike Bloomberg, or Jeff Bezos;] and the trauma victims, and single women with children?
2) IF 5G is so spectacular as the public relations hype paid advertising has promoted, why has most of America not jumped at it?
An article in I.T. news today said only 10% of U.S. has bought the new super-duper, "magic",24/7/365 surveillance tools costing thousand bux or more.
3) Is the United States the land of the free with the citizens having civil liberties to decide if, what, and when they will buy new things?
Or is there some caveat for BIG TELECOM that gives them some secret "right"to strong-arm people into buying new products because the telecom said so?
4) What is different about 5G that makes the United States federal agencies that are supposed to protect consumers from fraud, that has given BIG TELECOM the authority to turn off working phones months ahead of the arbitrarily chosen "deadline" for having a working telephone in U S? Or redirect calls to BIG TELECOM to listen to a forced ad for 5G of telecom?
5) When did these United States become communist, taking control over all citizens'spending habits and all tools?
6) When did telephones become a luxury item?
7) Why did BIG TELECOM wait until winter to strong arm citizens into " upgrading" to expensive phones? Is that because BIG TELECOM has been spying on citizens for years and knows that the elderly, the handicapped, the poor, do not travel in snow and ice of winter to the local retail store(s) to buy new things they don't need? The elderly don't want to risk falling in snow and ice. The handicapped find walking on sidewalks in snow and ice [or traveling via motorized scooters] impossible. And the "poor" risk sickness if they have to wait at city transit for an hour for the city bus in 5 degree weather. Keeping warm is hard in cities that have no city transit buses or bus shelters at all. All that is different about 5G is latency and speed, factors that are not critical to probably 99.95% of the population. It makes no difference that a citizen can download a movie in 4 seconds on their 1000bux phone if they have no thousand bux phone or if the movie costs a subscription to some so-called service; or if they get free internet with their rent and watch movies on big computers.
Free digital TV is a MUCH better solution for most of population.
8) Why is FCC approving a scheme designed to limit telephones to the "rich"?
9) Where in U S Constitution does it say a federal government agency can force consumers to buy anything?
10) Where in Amendments to U S Constitution did BIG TELECOM become the shadow government of the U S?
11) Has Congress quit on the job? Why are they silent as citizens's phones that are now working are purposely disabled because BIG TELECOM wants more than the hundreds of billions of dollars they already extract from U S citizens for existing phones?
12) Are telephones a commodity? Or a utility?
If a commodity, then run the risk of U S citizens saying collecting 'f--- you BIG TELECOM"and walking away from all mobile devices, and using VoIP, or wired systems, or walkie talkies for families , or INNOVATIVE ideas popping up everywhere.
BIG TELECOM knows that most citizens won't comply unless they have the "full force and power of the U S government" behind them so they "make deals" with FCC and FTC to get coercion clout. I am a U S citizen born in state of Georgia with degree from University of Georgia [also] and while there I studied the U S Constitution to be a good citizen.
I insist there is NO AUTHORITY for any federal agency to strong arm any citizen into buying anything!
Telecoms want the force and power of the feds but not the rules and regulations of the feds. IF telephones are a commodity, citizens can decide not to upgrade and find a carrier that works for them with phones they already bought.
If a utility as BIG TELECOM is insisting with their billion dollar campaign to coerce America to buy new stuff, then the U S federal government has a duty in Constitution to make sure ALL CITIZENS have equal access to the network(s). So which is it, FCC and FTC, commodity or utility??
