This is the oil painting I pianted of a peace dove, after I had painted five sketches of similar images of a white dove in sun rays painted to look sort of like stained glass. This is 18 x 24 inches on canvas and I painted it with oils, and it is still drying. I completed it yesterday but I began it about 2 months ago. I signed this, photographed it on my oil painting easel, and uploaded it and posted it. I followed the same basic process for all art on this blog-- I made it, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it. The idea of a peace dove is not new. It exists in many churches, cathedrals, and paintings for centuries. If you study art history at all, you will see white doves as a symbol of the Holy Spirit, which is about the love of GOD, and peace. This is my version of the peace dove painted with oil on canvas. I tried to make it look as if the dove was sort of struggling to rise,with feathers flying and turbulence and some damage to the feathers. I was trying to paint the idea that peace in the world today is in a fragile state, and that some consider it impossible. But I don't because I believe in the power of GOD, who was named JESUS when HE walked the earth, and who is alive in heaven according to Revelation in Holy Bible. I have painted this in defiance to the Arabic cartoon that was tweeted to me on my @gloriapoole twitter account of an image of a "Hamas" man with turban frying and eating the peace dove. That cartoon was tweeted to me 2-3 days after I had posted my sketches of peace dove that I put on three blogs of mine. Well. I did not miss the point but I believe it is necessary to paint this which I had already begun, and to post it to re-iterate my efforts to wish "peace, good will toward men" as the "multitude of heavenly host" sang at the birth of JESUS ,as told by Luke chapter 2 in King James Holy Bible.
