Sketches peninsula and lil viking made today by me Gloria Poole Registered Nurse artist in Missouri

This is a watercolor sketch I made today of a peninsula with a tiny city on it, and it is 9 x 12 in my sketchbook. I drew it in pencil painted it with watercolors, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it as is true of all art on this blog of mine.

This is a "folk art" of a little [lil] viking and I made this because I read in the news that in Norway the Vikings are enjoying a renewal and teaching classes on how to live like a viking [but peacefully, they say]. So, I drew this and painted it and signed it and photographed it and uploaded it. It is NOT a real person--just created by me to resemble a photo of a viking who had red hair and beard that I saw when I was a child. I made it sort of in a different style because the era of the vikings was primitive and though their boats were sophisticated for those times, their lifestyles and art was very simple. The article I read recently said the classes in Norway are teaching basic survival skills by living on the land. I think a whole lot of people yearn for times when life was simple and there were not tracking/ spy/ surveillance gadgets everywhere, and people learned to trust people by pulling together as a team to survive.
